West Coast Friends

We just checked our calendar and realized summer is nearing its end. When in the world did this happen?

The chance to get away for a long vacation isn’t always in the cards during these upcoming months but we know how it goes: sometimes you need a little weekend away. OneRooftop would like to share some of our favorite getaways in Washington, Oregon, and California, hoping that you can find the perfect time and place for you.

California

Been California Dreaming lately? From the long stretch of beaches in SoCal to the rolling golden hills of Northern California, this state synonymous with fun. Here are some breathtaking getaways on either end of the state.

Palm Springs

Located just south east of Los Angeles in the Sonoran desert, Palm Springs sends you to a whole different world. Being surrounded by mountains, you see stark contrasts. Guess what else? Palm Springs is known for 300 days of sunshine. This is a town where you can still imagine Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack running around in the 1960s. Find a mid-century modern home for an nostalgic American weekend at Palm Spring Cool Rentals.

Anaheim

So you’re still trying to get out of LA for the weekend? We have another trip in mind. Known for having one of the world’s largest tourist attractions, Anaheim is home to every kid’s dream place — that’s right. Disneyland. But there is also so much more if you’re looking for something else. Go catch a ball game at the Angels stadium or see the Anaheim Ducks play hockey.  Looking for lodging in Anaheim? Check out several properties for rent from Suite Escapes.

Guerneville

One minute you are seeing farms and signs for your favorite wine brands, and the next minute you’re in the forested area surrounding the Russian River. You’ll know you’ve reached relaxation when you see the orange kayaks cruising pass Johnson Beach in Guerneville, CA. Only about an hour and a half’s drive north of San Francisco is this sweet little town. Find yourself a relaxing boutique rental at River Sea Getaways, far enough from the city to relax but close enough to travel in a single weekend.

Oregon

The Huffington Post has dubbed Portland the number 1 city you should visit this year, citing its great food, musical culture, and all-around coolness. Whether you’re an artist or traveling with the whole family, Portland is a great getaway for someplace just a little different. And hosting the Portland Piedmont Guesthouse is Mr. Portland himself — as he is known to guests for his extensive knowledge of the area and his unmatched hospitality.

Pack up the car, we’re going to Lake Chelan! For sun, food, wine, and 50 miles of lake for outdoor activities, there is Lake Chelan in central Washington, a destination that promises a gorgeous way of wrapping up a good summer.
